The Dragon Gods
The Aspects of the Dragon Gods
Dragons in this setting are gods, and they are few. Each dragon has three different aspects: the Primal, the Material, and the Gnostic.
The Primal Aspect
This is the basest nature of the god, the true dragon form; a massive, scaled creature of raw power and purity of intent and feeling. It is often considered the wrathful aspect of the god, as this is the shape most frequently assumed when exerting power or teaching mortals a lesson.
The Material Aspect
Sometimes called the Elemental Aspect, this is the dormant state of the god. It is a physical object or substance in which the dragon slumbers and communes subconsciously with the subjects of its influence. This is vital for the dragon to maintain that influence. Failure to commune in the Material Aspect would weaken the dragon's bond, allowing another entity to exert influence. When it became clear that the dragons would be as gods, Kohlrin imbued them with this aspect both to grant them power, and to bind them to the source of that power to keep it in check.
The Gnostic Aspect
Perhaps the least understood aspect is the Gnostic. This is the dragon-gods mortal form. Typically appearing as a human, it is the form that is most commonly used for civil communication with mortals. This is not only due to having a more familiar appearance but also because this is the form in which the dragon can best understand humanity. It is the "thinking" aspect, that allows a dragon to comprehend better (though not perfectly) mortal existence and exert rational control over their Primal instincts and Material detachment. After Kohlrin gave the dragons their Material Aspects, wise Feyla saw how such power could lead to the destruction of mortals, who were as insects to the dragons. So she imbued them with the Gnostic Aspect so that they might sympathize with humans, and to further check their power by forcing them to sacrifice much of it in order to use the full capacity of their minds.

He is more considered a guardian or champion of the people, especially within Gauldalier, and though he doesn't actually bestow any sort of powers; many people pay him grand respects and sacrifices and treat him like any other of his divine family hoping for some good luck and protection. Droves would come all over to watch the prodigy perform.

Creation Story

There has always been Kohlrin: Keeper of The Great Forge, and Feyla: Keeper of the Eye of Secrets. The Great Forge remains open while Kohlrin works and is shut when he rests. Kohlrin has always loved Feyla from afar and over and over again he has tried different ways to catch her attention. To begin with he tried to create a road in the Endless Sea using embers from The Forge. It did not work, the sea was too turbulent and the embers washed in all directions. He then tried to create a raft, a giant rough clay disk that could fit him, and all of the wondrous gifts he invented to woo her. Little living dolls of his and Feyla's likeness in all sorts of variations, small and large figurines of creatures from his imagination and dreams, dreams he rightly believes were sent to him by his beloved Feyla. So he loaded the 'raft' and was about to embark when he realized the Forge was still open! So he rushed to go close it. Alas, he was gone just long enough that an ember star floated by and severed the raft from the forge, and the Endless Sea swept away the raft and all aboard.
The raft has become much different than it once was, as both Kohlrin and Feyla have through the years tried to get needed things to the little creations that now live forever on the raft, which to this day is still adrift just out of reach of The Forge and The Eye of Secrets and it is called Eisdeen.
For Kohlrin's part he planned to send needed items by way of a prototype creature he was working on to eventually create the penultimate creature that could finally take his message to Feyla but in the creation of the creature the prototype mold broke in half and two creatures - too flawed to be sent to Feyla - were Forged. The brother of the twins, Vorel, had no legs, only a small flat body and a pair of wings that could take him speedily through the Endless Sea to the growing world of Eisdeen. Baeshra, his sister had no wings, and her body was bulkier than her brother's, however, she had legs and claws enough to cling to her brother as he swam, and on her flat ridged back she carried flora and fauna of Kohlrin's Creation to their new home.
While Feyla was studying what was going on with the growing civilization on the raft the goddess of knowledge and secrets noticed something about the tides of the Endless Sea. There was a certain circulating current that took both The Forge and The Eye of Secrets around the raft that slowly spun, stuck in a mild whirlpool. She calculated that every thousand years the currents would bring the Eye and the Forge together. Also by her calculations, they were 870 years into the 1000-year cycle.
Meanwhile, Kohlrin hyper-focused on his mission of love poured all of his passion and desire into his latest creation the very molten fires of the forge lay in its belly. Gigantic wings to carry it over the Endless Sea scales the color of his fires so she knew who sent the creature. A magnificent beast, the first Forge Dragon was born from the fires and was sent to deliver Kohlrin’s message of passion and desire to Feyla. Alas, Kohlrin focused too much on his passion and driven desire to have what he wanted the dragon he named Vliegerkurikdartak, or Vlieger for short. The creation worked perfectly alright, it flew through the Endless Sea landing upon the Eye of Secrets. But when he laid eyes on the divine beauty of Feyla all of the passion and desire he was created with fueled the furious way he delivered his master's message. Feyla was of no physical match to the creature and the violation of her body was catastrophic. Time after time Vlieger delivered his passion onto her until her belly was swollen with a new life. Finally, after time was nearly lost Vlieger returned to his master, proud of his work in delivering Kohlrin's message. When Kholrin heard about the horrible deeds the dragon did in his name in a fury he banished Vlieger from the Forge. Vlieger had nowhere to go, for the first time the Eye of Secrets was closed and could not be found in the Endless Sea, so to the land of Kohlrin's casts-offs he went and tried to sate his unending hunger and lust, eating and raping any resident that had the misfortune to get in his way on a bad day.
The Tribe that lived closest to his home were practically slaves to the beast's desires. That tribe became known as the Shadraca, and in order to survive were forced to raid and kidnap others from different tribes to offer up as sacrifices to Vlieger, the Ravager. Soon after the Shadraca became skilled at sating their new ruler's hunger Vlieger began to enjoy the sort of worship they displayed and did in fact begin to favor the Shadraca Tribe and spared them when he could. Though he did lust for the beauties of the Tribe, he endeavored to try his best to try and show them the wonder of passion, and more and more the Shadraca Tribe became less enslaved and more decadent fanatics, eager to enjoy the power of passion and hunger. The Shadraca earned their name, Sword of the Dragon, and they earned it well. The relationship between Tribe and Ravager ever growing more and more symbiotic.
When the Eye of Secrets next opened the birthing screams of Feyla rippled the Endless Sea. The creature that slipped from Feyla's loins was of similar shape to the father, but the pallid color of the mother and her home, white scales and horns thrashed around madly as vapors of icy breath steamed out as the little creature gave her first roar. Feyla tried with all of her might to love her daughter, Kaziathalanokrisha, or 'Kazia', the first of the Ice Dragons. The birth was a catharsis for Feyla, she became stronger and dedicated herself to her daughter no matter the extremely difficult hurdles raising Kazia dealt her. Kazia grew quickly and was even quicker to anger and there was a time in her adolescent years when her temper and thrashings caused damage to the Eye of Secrets. But Feyla through it all taught her daughter a level of discipline that ironically could be considered icy. Even towards her mother Kazia became chilly, in her mind, it was better than letting the fury inherited from her father destroy her mother and their home.
The first conflux of the Tides brought Kohlrin and Feyla together. It was dubious at first. Feyla was extremely wary of who she thought sent Vliegar to harm her as he did. In fact, at first sight, Kazia attacked Kohlrin and pinned him by the throat against his precious forge. But when he strangled out the words, "I didn't know." Feyla knew, as she always did, that it was not a lie and she had to work hard to calm Kazia and send the dragon to her den in the Eye so that they could have some time to talk. They talked for months, and Kohlrin wasted no time wooing her as he always dreamed of doing. Feyla enjoyed the sort of gentle affection Kohlrin gave to her and the new sort of warmth that she felt when he was around.
Kazia watched from afar as her mother fell in love with the being that created the monster that is her actual father and a sense of knowing began to settle in her icy heart. Listening at times during 'family dinners' Kazia would learn about what Vliegar was up to and once or twice she ruined dinner by flipping the table. Less and less Kazia felt part of the family as her mother's pregnancy grew. As Feyla's belly got bigger and the couple was so glowing and tender and enjoying the family life did Kazia's jealousy and anger about the entire situation grow. The last thing she said to Kohlrin was that he was a coward because he dared not make a creature that could overpower Vlieger. For what if the new creature turned for the worse just as Vlieger did? Kazia knew what must be done, and after kissing her mother in her sleep she descended through the Endless Sea, to finally embrace her father for the first time, she would subdue him however she might be able to. No matter the cost she must stop her father from destroying the things that make her mother and the god she is in love with happy.
A disastrous war began as the first embrace between father and daughter consisted of claw, tooth, and horn. She was young and much smaller than her father and he far surpassed her in physical brutality before she knew it or could stop it or flee Kazia became the focus of Vlieger's lust and fury. Time after time he would break Kazia and then force himself on her. With an egg in her belly, she ran and got far from Vlieger while he slept off his rutting doze. To protect herself she nearly exhausted herself in using her breath to freeze the land around her. High atop a mountain in the depths of her new icy land, she laid an egg surrounded with provisions to feed and nourish the hatchling until it could take care of itself, and left. She was not the mother Feyla was, and did not want such a reminder of her shame in her inability to stop Vlieger that she didn't even look back. In the back of her mind, there was also a secret hope that Vlieger would never find her first daughter, Amayauliluacette, or ‘Amaya’. But it was with insurmountable shame that Kazia returned to her lair with another pregnancy and was beside herself when Amaya without a moment's hesitation welcomed her mother to the lair and immediately started tending to Kazia's wounds and helped her through the birth of her second egg. Amaya proceeded to nurture her new brother, Gutheravanmorloriac, 'Guther', like she was the hatchling's mother instead of sister, allowing Kazia to return to her vengeful mission against Vliegar.
In contrast to all of this chaotic conflict, deep in the Endless Sea, Kohlrin and Feyla gave a long farewell kiss as the Forge began drifting away from the Eye again. It broke Kohlrin's heart to leave and he lingered as long as he could, just long enough that he witnessed the birth of his son from the forge as it drifted away. Feyla quickly passed her tiny newborn son across the growing space to his father so Kohlrin would not be so lonely, and as Keeper of the Eye of Secrets, Feyla knew that this was right. So then, Herro first son of Feyla, and Kohlrin joined his father in the Forge of Creation and began to learn the art of Craft. When Herro did not grow taller than 4 and a half feet tall, Kohlrin would always point to Vorel and Baeshra and say, "Nothing is a mistake, everything is for a reason." When it became clear that Herro had a mind and power that could combine the secret knowledge of his mother with the embuing and creative powers of his father something new to the universe was beginning. Herro became the first Sage, wielder of the arcane!
